The U.S. Signal Office here received a telegram from Burke's station, Ariz., stating that the stage was attacked Tuesday night on the Maricopa desert. The stage driver and passengers drove off the attackers. Nobody was hurt.

FROM THE UNION MARCH 27, 1928 - Confronted with a baffling list of problems in connection with the consolidation of city and county tax departments, the mayor, City Council and city attorney gathered in conference yesterday in the hope of finding a way out. They failed to get very far.
Declaring that prohibition has caused a general breakdown of law and order, Rep. Sabath, Republican of Illinois, has appealed to the House Judiciary Committee to report his bill calling for a constitutional amendment to permit operation of the Canadian liquor dispensary system in the United States.
